However, some demonstrators who went against the agreed arrangement by forcing their way into the compound of the EC office were restrained, the police added.

“We would like to take this opportunity to urge the media to be circumspect in their reportage, the indicated in a press statement.

As protests calling for a forensic audit of the voters’ register hit the streets across the country, some reports from Kumasi said there was a clash between the police and some protesters and resulted in a gun shot.

But in a statement the police said no protester has been injured in the various street protests, led by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The statement was in response to some reports that the demonstrations had turned violent in Kumasi after police clashed with some protesters at the regional office.

According to the reports, there were sounds of gunshots.

Supporters of the opposition party on Tuesday, took to the streets in an attempt to compel the EC to allow an independent audit of the voters’ register as entire nation readies for the December 7 general elections.

The nationwide demonstration is dubbed; "Enough is Enough."

The Ghana Police Service however noted that some individuals who disregarded agreed upon arrangements and tried to force their way into the compound of the election body’s Kumasi office were “restrained.”

The statement therefore urged media outlets covering the protest to be circumspect in their reporting.
