He said the most important thing politicians should do in their constituencies was to tell the electorate what they (politicians) could do when elected for the electorate to make their own decisions and choices.

He said those incumbent Members of Parliament (MPs) must tell the electorate what they did and what would be added if given another chance. In the same way, the incoming ones must also unveil their plans which will warrant the electorate to vote the incumbent out.

“As politicians, you know very well the rules of the game and what goes into it for peace to prevail. You are the lawmakers and you are the best people among Ghanaians to act well devoid of issues that will culminate into chaos leading to misunderstanding and fights,” Nana Bekai Ababio stressed.

Nana Bekai Ababio was speaking to the Daily Graphic last Saturday on the sidelines of the 10th anniversary celebration of Cuddle Me Montessori School at Akosombo in the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern Region.

Concern

He noted with concern that we have gone through many presidential and parliamentary elections since the Fourth Republic in 1992 and therefore the electorate were used to elections in the country but the way politicians packaged their messages during election years were the main challenges.

“A politician as you are, you know what you have planned to do in your constituency if you win the election. Just go straight to the point during your campaign time prior to the elections and sell your message, vision and your ideas and leave it with them to decide,” he emphasised.

The second in command of Akwamu State also stressed the need for the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), the Electoral Commission (EC), the main supervisors of the elections, and the security agencies to be led by the police to ensure that they played their supervisory role well to avoid incidents that will jeopardise the election results.
