Ex manager charged with forgery

A former employee of Unicorn Happy Investment Company Limited at Manyakpongunor, has been arraigned before the Odumase Krobo Circuit Court for stealing and forgery of documents.

Solomon Kwasi Alikor, 25, who pleaded not guilty to the charge of stealing but guilty with explanation to forgery of documents, was fined GH¢600.00 or in default serve seven months imprisonment.

Chief Inspector John Akutteh, the prosecuting officer, told the court, presided over by Mr Frank Gbeddy, that the complainant, Mr Emmanuel Nartey Tetteh, was the branch Manager of the company while Alikor  was the former Customer Relations Manager who mobilised  deposits from customers of the company on daily basis.

According to C/ Inspector Akutteh, on August 22, 2015  the complainant, with the help of other officials in the company, arrested Alikor  and sent him to the police station, alleging that for some time,  Alikor’s accounts books showed some discrepancies with regard to monies paid to the company by customers.

C/Inspector Akutteh said Mr Tetteh also realised that GH¢15,300.00 which was paid to Alikor by various customers to be deposited in their accounts did not reflect in their savings accounts with the bank.

The prosecutor said  further investigations revealed that Alikor forged an investments certificate bearing the name of company and succeeded in using same to obtain GH¢13,320.00 from one Comfort Nartey.

He said the accused informed Ms Nartey that he was investing the GH¢13,320.00 in the company but a check in the books of the company did not reflect the amount Alikor took from her.

Chief Inspector Akutteh indicated that the amount Alikor stole from other customers and Ms Nartey amounted to GH¢28,620.00.

C/Inspector Akutteh said the accused was then rearrested and detained.

During police interrogation Alikor admitted the offence in the presence of witnesses but pleaded with Mr Tetteh  to allow him to work in order to repay those debts.

The accused also told the police that he did agree with the amount stated by the complainant

The case has been adjourned to October 14.
