Exhibit high sense of selflessness - Maulvi Salih tells country’s leaders

The Ameer and Missionary in charge of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in Ghana, Maulvi Mohammed Bin Salih, has charged the leadership of the country to exhibit a high sense of selflessness and distant themselves from acts that undermine the progressive development of the country.
He urged them to emulate the sterling qualities of the founding fathers of the country by exhibiting the spirit of sacrifice, selflessness and dignity for the good of all Ghanaians.

"As leaders who have the sterling qualities of our founding fathers to emulate, we must not, simply on the basis of minor infractions and personal egos, invoke the curses of fire and brimstone on the country with impetuosity," he said.
Maulvi Salih said this to mark this year's Eid-ul-Adha Festival at the Ahmadiyya Muslim Conference Centre at Ashongman, near Accra.

A cue
He said the Eid-ul-Adha celebration should serve as a wake-up call to every Ghanaian to emulate the shining example of Prophet Ibrahim.
"Every Ghanaian woman must see Hajarah (Sarah) in herself, and in like manner every Ghanaian child must see young Ismail in himself or herself," he added.
That, he said, was the only path on which citizens could rekindle that spirit of sacrifice which is still the panacea to both "our spiritual and mundane affairs".

About Eid-ul-Adha.
Eid-ul-Adha is a sacred Muslim festival that is celebrated every year with sacrifice, prayer and food.
Also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, the festival is the second most important festival in Islam, which takes place in the month of Hajj after pilgrims to Mecca have performed the obligatory events.
It honours the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son as an act of submission to God's command before God then intervened through his angel and informed him that his sacrifice had already been accepted.
