Ennin was charged on three counts of use of military uniforms and equipment, impersonation and defrauding by false pretence.

He pleaded guilty with explanation to count one, and not guilty to counts two and three.

According to the prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent of Police Mary Esinam Ahafianyo, the complainant, Priscilla Animwaa, resides at Agbogba, a suburb of Accra, while the accused is a private residential security man.

In June, last year, Ennin went to Animwaa’s food joint to buy food.

ASP Ahafianyo said the two became friends afterwards and Ennin proposed love to Animwaa.

Ennin told Animwaa that he was a military officer with service number 202677 stationed at 1 BN, Michel Camp.  Ennin further showed some pictures of himself in military uniform to Animwaa and assured Animwaa that he could get her enlisted into the Military.

She told the court that Ennin collected GH¢1,780, a birth certificate, WASSCE results slip and four passport size pictures from Animwaa, which he said he would use to process Animwaa’s recruitment into the Ghana Armed Forces.

He also presented a list of items Animwaa would need for her training.

Later, Ennin also demanded and collected GH¢2, 500 from Animwaa’s sister to facilitate the process but was unable to honour his promise, she added.

The prosecutor said Animwaa became suspicious and reported the matter to the police.

ASP Ahafianyo said on August 29,  this year, Ennin was arrested when he met Animwaa and presented to her a purported recruitment letter requesting Animwaa to report for training come December 31, 2014.

She said upon his arrest,  Ennin admitted the offences and after investigation he was charged with the offences.
