Family Festa debuts with spectacular family fun day at Efua Sutherland park

The inaugural Family Festa transformed Efua Sutherland Children's Park into an enchanting playground on Saturday, December 21, 2024, bringing together families for an unforgettable day of entertainment and bonding. 

The park came alive with a vibrant array of bouncy castles, where children unleashed their energy, jumping and sliding with pure joy. At the face-painting station, skilled artists worked their magic, turning eager young faces into colourful masterpieces. Children proudly displaying their painted faces while dashing between activities became a hallmark of the day.

The gaming arena proved to be a major attraction, featuring an impressive mix of entertainment options. Children gathered around classic board games, engaging in friendly matches, while others showcased their gaming prowess at the PlayStation stations.

The competitive spirit was infectious as young gamers challenged each other in popular video games, creating an atmosphere of excitement and friendly rivalry.

One of the day's highlights was the spectacular performance area, where fire jugglers left audiences spellbound with their daring acts. Traditional dance troupes added cultural vibrancy to the festivities, their rhythmic movements and colourful costumes creating an immersive experience that celebrated Ghana's rich heritage.

Beloved mascot characters roamed the grounds, bringing extra sparkle to children's eyes and creating perfect photo opportunities.

Horse riding emerged as an unexpected favourite, with children discovering the joy of their first encounter with these majestic animals. Under professional supervision, young riders beamed with confidence as they experienced the thrill of horseback riding.

“Family Festa was created to give families in Accra a space to bond and create lasting memories,” explained event organiser Nana Kojo Antwi. “Seeing the joy on everyone’s faces today is proof that we’ve achieved something special. This is just the beginning, and we’re already planning bigger things for future editions.”

Vendors also served up a diverse array of delicious treats, creating a mini food festival within the event. 

"I've never seen my kids this excited," remarked Sarah Mensah, mother of three. "There's such a wonderful variety of activities, and everything is so well organised. We'll definitely be looking forward to the next edition."

As the successful day drew to a close, families left with phones full of photos and hearts full of memories. Family Festa had accomplished something remarkable, creating a space where families could step away from their daily routines and immerse themselves in pure joy and entertainment.

This debut edition has set the stage for what promises to become a highly anticipated event in Ghana's social calendar.
