The event, according to the Founder and President of FHMS, Prof. Enyoman Yao Kwawukume, was to prove to the potential students and their guardians that the school had the required facilities to operate effectively.

He assured the potential students that they would not be disadvantaged by attending a private medical school.

According to Prof. Kwawukume, the academic year for the first batch of students starts on January 4, 2016.

He said admission was still in progress and reminded potential students who had not submitted their forms or awaiting results that they had a grace period of six weeks from the date of reopening to apply.

Prof Kwawukume also indicated that “the authorities were putting measures in place to help sponsor brilliant needy students.”

He said the students would also benefit from free Wi-Fi at any part of the campus for easy communication.

A key activity of the day was an Information Session, during which potential students were introduced to the school’s programmes, lecturers and other key members of staff.

Some of the lecturers who interacted with students introduced them to some innovative teaching methods, including, Didactic Lecturing, Team Based Learning (TBL) and Self-Directed Learning developed by the school.

Facilities toured
The facilities visited by the potential students included the Tim Johnson Library Complex, which has a lot of innovations, including telemedicine facilities, where students can have virtual lectures from America, Europe, Britain, Germany or India.

The library complex also comprises a hall of anatomy which uses cadavers to introduce students to the human body, which is prime to medical training, as well as other electronic and computerised facilities to view different parts of the human body.

It also has an E-library which is extended to the whole compound.

Visitors response
The visitors were pleased with the safety measures taken by the school to protect life and property.

They particularly noted the presence of hydrants and electronic pumps in the laboratories to be used in case of accidents.
