She said there were a number of positions within the police service that female officers could take advantage of and, therefore, called on them to aspire to greater heights within the service.

ACP Twumasi Sarpong made the statement during the celebration of the annual West Africa Security Services Association get-together of the Swedru Divisional Police at Agona Swedru.

Stock-taking

The ceremony, which provided an opportunity for the Police Service to take stock of its operations last year and to plan for this year, brought together officers and men of the security services, their spouses, children and the general public.

ACP Twumasi Sarpong stressed that the higher positions within the Police Service were not solely the preserve of the male officers and that female officers should not look down upon themselves and be satisfied with their positions till retirement.

She stated that there were opportunities for them to undertake promotion examinations within the service that would enable them to be promoted to higher ranks in the police administration. She further advised the male officers to always encourage their female counterparts in the performance of their duties  to boost their morale to aspire to take up more challenging roles in future.

MCE

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Agona West, Mr Samuel Oppong, commended the police officers for their hard work towards combating criminal acts in the area and said the assembly would soon complete the juvenile and female cells at the Swedru District Police Headquarters, in line with efforts to improve the security situation in the municipality.

The Swedru Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent of Police Mr Ahmed Issah Yakubu, called for public support towards the completion of the divisional headquarters, indicating that his outfit needed the office urgently to enhance their operations.
