First Lady salutes fellow women

The First Lady, Mrs Lordina Mahama, has encouraged Ghanaian women to not allow the exigencies of the time to discourage them from carrying out their roles as mothers.

In a message to mark Mother’s Day yesterday, she said "Women should not allow the exigencies of today's busy world and challenging demands of work to discourage and push them to abandon the role of a mother and being there for their children,"

Mrs Mahama, who is also the President of Lordina Foundation, a non-governmental organisation working in the interest of women and children, congratulated Ghanaian women on the occasion.

Proud Africans

She encouraged all Ghanaian women to be proud as African mothers, and continue to sacrifice their personal comfort for the benefit of their children.

"Mothers have special places in their hearts for their children. This treasured love has been time-tested, and reflects the undying desire for a mother to carry all the burdens of her children, and wiping their tears with her smiles," the statement said.
