The police had to seek the assistance of personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) to retrieve the bodies and the injured from the mangled bus.
It also took personnel from the National Road Safety Commission a while to clear the debris off the road to allow for easy flow of traffic.

The Ejisu Divisional Police Commander of the Motor Transport and Traffic Department (MTTD), Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mr George Owusu Aboagye, told the Daily Graphic that the accident occurred around 3:30 a.m.
He said the police suspected that the driver of the passenger bus might have slept off and veered off his lane onto the lane of the cargo truck.
ASP Aboagye said the impact of the collision was such that the drivers died on the spot.
He indicated that investigations were underway to determine the real cause of the accident.
