Forum held on Assin Fosu-Praso road
The people of Assin Fosu and its environs have asked the Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) to consider the disabled in the construction of highways.
They said the many accidents on the highways could mostly be attributed to the failure on the part of the GHA to consider the vulnerable, including children, the sick and disabled, in the design and construction of the nation’s highways.

At a forum to discuss the 31.2-kilometre road project from Assin Praso to Assin Fosu, which is to begin in 2016, the forum called for appropriately placed foot bridges and traffic lights to make the roadfriendly to the vulnerable.
As part of stakeholder consultations, the forum was held at Assin Fosu to gather views from residents on the project.
Thomas Opong-Baah, an engineer of the GHA, who gave an overview of the project, said the project was part of the National Route Eight (N8) road network from Yamonransa to Anhwia-Nkwanta. It would be funded from a Japanese grant.
He said the project was expected to take off in 2016 and end in 2018.
The Chief Engineer at GHA, Mrs Rita Ohene Sarfo, gave an assurance that those who needed to be compensated would be compensated before the project began.
