The minister who made the point at the 2015 Vakantiebeurs Tourism Fair in the Dutch city of Utrecht said the ministry would continue to use the platform offered by such events to markets Ghana’s varied tourist products to the European and Dutch market and also attract foreign investment into the local tourism industry.

She added that as part of the ongoing efforts to promote Ghana’s culture, arts and tourism industry on the global market, the ministry would support players in the sector to participate in international programmes that would give them the needed experiences and business opportunities.

The Vakantiebeurs is a holiday event, which is the main consumer travel show of the year in The Netherlands (Holland), attracting over 122,000 visitors.

It has a dedicated ‘Trade Day’ that allows industry partners to set up appointments and explore potential business opportunities within the Dutch market and discuss other tourism development prospects.

The fair also runs conferences, seminars and workshops for participants on various themes related to the overall objective of international tourism promotion.

At the fair, the Ghanaian delegation held talks with many participants including Zimbabwean tourism officials, who visited Ghana's stand to exchange ideas with their Ghanaian counterparts.

Mrs Ofosu-Adjare during an interaction with the Zimbabweans, underscored the need for Africans to, “repackage their products and use their culture as one of their greatest points for tourism development”.

Ghana’s delegation to the fair included directors from the Ministry of Tourism, officials from the Ghana Tourism Authority, Forestry Commission, and the private sector.

The visit to Holland follows a similar trip to the World Travel Market last year in Excel, London,              where the Tourism Minister held talks with officials of Cable News Network (CNN) to help promote Ghana’s tourism on the popular international network
