15 Die in accident at Peki-Tsame
Fifteen people lost their lives on the spot when a container truck crashed head-on with a bus at Peki-Tsame, near Peki Senior High School in the Volta Region during the early hours of yesterday.
The crash involved a Mercedes-Benz container truck with the registration number - WR 1553-C, which was travelling from Nkwanta in the Oti Region to Accra, and a Mercedes-Benz passenger bus with registration number - GR 3215-E, which was from Battor in the Volta Region heading to Kabiti in the Oti Region.
The deceased comprised nine males and six females. The cause of the accident is being investigated.

The Ho Regional Public Relations Officer of the GNFS, Assistant Divisional Officer (ADO) I, Hope Bedzra, said in all, 40 people were involved in the accident.
They included 21 males, 15 females and four children.

In a statement, the Fire Service said through a coordinated rescue operation, they were able to save 25 persons - 23 adults and two children who sustained multiple injuries.
ADO Bedzra said they were subsequently conveyed to the Peki Government Hospital, while the deceased were handed over to the police, who also conveyed the bodies to the hospital mortuary.

“While the Ghana National Fire Service extends our deepest condolences to the bereaved families, we urge motorists to observe road traffic regulations, avoid dangerous driving, and exercise maximum caution on the roads to help prevent accidents and save lives,” the statement added.
