Agenda 111 hospitals 70% complete - President Akufo-Addo
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has announced that 70 per cent of the Agenda 111 hospital projects dotted across the country is completed.
He said the flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, must be credited with the projects since he formed the idea for the projects in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

President Akufo-Addo, who was addressing representatives from trade unions and various professional groups in Accra last Tuesday, said it was important Ghanaians understood and knew the nature of Dr Bawumia.
“We are about to make the most consequential decision of this generation of Ghanaians on Saturday and we need to have all the information available to us about the various contestants for the supreme office in our country, so we can make an informed decision,” he stated, adding that the story about the origins of Agenda 111 was extremely pertinent.
President Akufo-Addo said, “it goes to the heart of this man and it goes to the heart of the kind of mind and personality that we need to continue the development of our country.”
Meeting
The meeting with the trade unions and other members of the professional groups was the climax of the thank you tour of President Akufo-Addo, who had been to all the 16 regions to thank Ghanaians for honouring him with the high office of President and their continued support during his eight-year tenure.
Policies
President Akufo-Addo said just like the Free SHS and the Agenda 111 hospitals, all his policies had been national in nature, thereby permeating every Ghanaian household.
“So you have a situation where education and healthcare and all of these Agenda 111 hospitals are in every part of the country.

“There has been nothing discriminatory about anything that I have done since I came into office. They are in every part of the country,” he stressed, saying each one of the 16 regions of Ghana will have one or other Agenda 111 hospital," he said.
On the industrial transformation policy, he said knowing fully well that the important aspect of the future of the country was bound up with the ability to move from a raw material-producing economy to an industrialising, value-adding economy, led to the origin of the One District, One Factory (1D1F) policy.
Today, he said, 169 factories had been established under the 1D1F, while 159 others were in the process of being operated.
He pointed out that besides encountering some challenges in the years 2021 and 2022, the eight years the supreme office was entrusted to him had been productive years for Ghana.

He said the challenges went into the standard of living and rate of inflation, “but today, the country is coming out of it strong again.”
Elections
President Akufo-Addo, who later touched on the Presidential and Parliamentary elections on Saturday, said, “It was important for the Ghanaian electorate to look above the parapet and ask ourselves what, who and what will be best for our country at this given time.”
He, therefore, urged the various groups to consider Dr Mahamudu Bawumia when it was time to vote and said having been with him for eight years in opposition and eight years in government, he (Dr Bawumia) was well prepared today to be President.

“And my appeal to you is that on Saturday when you go to cast your ballot, look closely at the elephant. It is not difficult because at the top of the ballot paper is the elephant. It is right there at the very top," he said.
