AGOSA inducts new executives

The Accra Girls Old Students Association (AGOSA) has inducted a nine-member national executive team to manage the affairs of the association for the next four years.

The executive team comprises a president, vice president, two secretaries, treasurer, financial secretary, two organisers and a public relations officer.

They were sworn in during a ceremony held recently at the Accra Girls’ Senior High School premises in Accra.

The event marked the official leadership transition and reaffirmed the association’s commitment to supporting its alma mater and strengthening alumni engagement.

The induction ceremony was attended by the school's board and management, past and present national executives of AGOSA, representatives of year groups and chapters, traditional leaders, guests, and students of the school.

The new National President of AGOSA, Beatrice Oforiwa Addai-Deseh, a member of the 1984 year group, assumed office after the induction.

She stated that the moment represented a shared celebration of every woman who had ever walked the corridors of the Accra Girls’ Senior High School.

Mrs Addai-Deseh expressed appreciation to members for the confidence reposed in the new executives and pledged to lead with diligence and integrity.

She said her administration would uphold the school's values of loyalty, purity and honesty.

Vision

Mrs Addai-Deseh also outlined a vision focused on unity, empowerment, welfare and accountability for the association.

"My vision for AGOSA is an AGOSA that bridges the gap between generations, empowers its members, prioritises welfare and operates with effectiveness and accountability," she said.

She emphasised the importance of continuity and collaboration, adding that her team would build on the foundations laid by the outgoing administration to help the school and the association achieve more.

“We will build on the solid structures already laid by our predecessors, enhance what we have inherited, and pioneer initiatives that reflect the evolving needs of our members and our society,” she said.

Collective responsibility

Mrs Addai-Deseh also called on members across year groups and chapters to support the association through active participation and shared responsibility.

“Unity and sacrificial giving are the heartbeat of development and progress in any old students’ association,” she said.

She also urged members to contribute in diverse ways beyond financial support and highlighted the impact of time, skills and ideas in sustaining the association.

Mrs Addai-Deseh further paid tribute to past leaders and the immediate past National President, Professor Adelaide Kastner, for strengthening the association and ensuring a smooth transition.
