Acquire knowledge

In her speech, Mrs Owusu-Ekuful advised pupils, students, teachers and the public to patronise the library/ICT centre to broaden their knowledge, as well as improve their vocabulary.

She was happy that as many as 11,640 people had used the facility since it was set up last year and used the occasion to advise parents to attach special importance to their children's education since education is the key to development.

The minister was grateful to the stakeholders of the library/ICT centre for maintaining the facility since its construction and urged them to sustain the spirit.

More libraries

The Eastern Regional Director of the Ghana Library Authority, Evans Korletey-Tene announced that libraries in the region had increased from six in 2018 to 26 this year, adding that steps were far advanced to ensure that each of the 33 districts in the region had a library.

The MP for Oda, Mr Acquah in his address, commended Mrs Owusu-Ekuful for her commitment to the development of Oda in particular and the entire Akyemansa area in general.

He enjoined students and other scholars in the area not only to patronise the facility but also to preserve it.

He said the facility could be used for income generation activities such as being used as a conference centre for public events on a commercial basis.
