
Bono/Ahafo GJA Awards: GCGL’s Biiya Mukusah Ali, 7 other journalists to be honoured
Eight journalists, including the Graphic Communications Group Limited's (GCGL), Biiya Mukusah Ali, have been pencilled to receive honours at the third edition of the Bono/Ahafo Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Awards.
Other shortlisted journalists are Lawrence Yeboah Gyan, Suncity Radio; Emmanuel Kwadwo Gyan, Sky FM and Claude Kumi Abisa, Media General (Onua TV).
The rest are Jasmine Akwaboah, Moonlite FM; Michael Sarpong Mfum, Channel One TV; Samuel Mensah, Peace FM and Osei Laar, Suncity Radio.

The winners were announced in a press release dated August 27, 2025 and signed by the Chairperson of the Bono/Ahafo Chapter of the GJA, Regina Benneh Siaw.
"Eight distinguished journalists are expected to be awarded prizes in the competitive categories of the awards," the release stated.
Titled "2024 Bono/Ahafo GJA Awards, the event is scheduled for Saturday, September 6, 2025, at the Virgin Court Hotel in Sunyani, the Bono Regional capital.
The event will be held on the theme: “The Role of the Media as a Tool for Promoting Development in the Bono and Ahafo regions”.
The release said the eight distinguished journalists and media practitioners would be awarded in 13 categories.
The categories are Best News Reporter (Print), Best Feature Reporter, Best Political Reporter, Best Crime Reporter, Best Telecommunications Reporter and Best Female Journalist.
Other categories are Best Health Reporter, Best Radio Feature Reporter, Best News Anchor (Twi), Best News Anchor (English), Best Agroecology Reporter, Best Education Reporter and Overall Best Journalist.
It said during the celebration of World Press Freedom Day on May 5, 2025, the association opened nominations for interested members and non-members of the GJA to submit their stories for the 2024 GJA awards.
The release explained that a three-member awards committee was constituted to vet and reward deserving journalists who submitted their entries.
The committee members were the Chairman, Dr Victor Leonard Amengor; Secretary, Emmanuel Adu-Gyamerah and Charles Koomson.
It said 12 journalists submitted their entries in the various categories advertised for the awards.
The release explained that the 12 journalists submitted a total of 71 stories, adding that most of the stories did not meet the award's criteria.
"It is against this background that after six sittings, the committee shortlisted the eight deserving journalists whose entries met the criteria for the categories they filed for," it said.
