Daily Graphic/GREDA home fair successful — Exhibitors

Exhibitors and some prospective home owners at the just-ended Daily Graphic/GREDA Home Fair in Accra have described the event as impactful, commending the organisers for providing such a platform for them to showcase their products and services.

In separate interviews with the Daily Graphic, they said the platform, a one-stop shop for real estate needs, enabled them to generate several leads for further engagements and follow ups.

They have, therefore, applauded the Graphic Communications Group Limited and GREDA for excellent organisation.

Fair

The exhibition, which started last Thursday at the Food Court of the Accra Mall was put together by the Graphic Communications Group Ltd. (GCGL) and its partner, Ghana Real Estate Developers Association (GREDA).

It was on the theme: “Technology-Enabled and Eco-Friendly Housing: Now and the Future.”

The fair was sponsored by MTN Ghana Limited, Access Bank, Samsung among others.

It brought together, home owners, prospective home owners, developers, financiers, insurance companies and those in the value chain.

Besides the sponsors who set up booths at the fair, other exhibitors included Lakeside Estate, Star Properties, Sethi Realty, Prabon Greenfields, GLICO Group, State Housing Company Ltd, Molders Developers, and ACP.

The rest are JL Properties, Rocksters Roofing, Eden Heights, GHS Housing Ltd, Micasso Tiles and the Lands Commission.

Venue

The exhibitors, however, called for a bigger venue and the creation of children's playground at next year's event.

In particular, they told the Daily Graphic that a larger venue would have been able to accommodate more prospective buyers, while allowing the exhibitors to showcase more products.

“I think the fair is a very good initiative but the venue is too small and from my observation, I think it has limited the patronage.

“Because of the space, you can literally go round the venue in five minutes. I think going forward, if Graphic can organise it at a bigger place and make more adverts about it, it would help,” Evans Abrokwah Dompreh, sales and development manager, Rocksters Roofing Systems, a leading roofing manufacturing company in Ghana told the Daily Graphic on the final day of the three-day exhibition.

Interviews

While agreeing that Daily Graphic is the biggest news brand on the market, Mr Dompreh reckoned that bringing on board some media houses to offer more publicity "will be super."

"But for the fact that my company was participating, I wouldn't have known," he added.

"However, I think this is a good replacement for the Builders Exhibition and we must encourage Graphic Group to do more. Overall, the fair was good, carefully thought through and well planned.

"The arrangement of the cubicles was great as well as the entire setup," he said.

His views were corroborated by Gifty Dede Buer, Team Member, Specialised Lending Mortgages, Access Bank; Momo Sethi, Project Manager for Sethi Affordable Luxury Homes, and Juliet Emefa Gborglah, Business Development Manager, State Housing Company Limited.

Being mothers, Gifty and Juliet suggested the creation of children's playground, especially during the weekend so parents could focus and concentrate on the exhibition.

"By and large, it's a good event.

I hope next year, we will go for a bigger venue, increase publicity and provide a place for our children," Mrs Buer said.

Sales

Some exhibitors told the Daily Graphic that many contacts had been populated for follow-ups.

"A lot of participants have expressed interest in buying some of our properties and I'm excited.

We've made one or two sales but we have created a Whatsapp group to get in touch with everybody for actual sales," Mono Sethi said.

Participants

A number of participants interviewed said much as the event was great, although some of the prices quoted by exhibitors were beyond their reach.

To them, the system of spreading the payment from the day of construction to finish should be the way to go.

A few more who the Daily Graphic spoke with wanted some form of entertainment to be added to the event, especially on a weekend.
