First GCK-Ghana Medical Missions inaugurated in Kumasi

The Global Crusade with Kumuyi (GCK) has inaugurated the first ever GCK-Ghana Medical Missions in Kumasi to provide free medical care, as well as extend a hand of friendship, love and support to the Ghanaian community.

GCK is a non-denominational gathering named after the Convener, 81-year-old renowned global Evangelist, Mathematician, Founder and General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Dr William F. Kumuyi.

Speaking at the event last Saturday, the National Overseer of the Deeper Christian Ministry, Pastor Edward K. Duodu, stated that the medical missions transcend borders, bringing together medical professionals from Nigeria, Bulgaria, Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States and from the body of Christ in Ghana to offer free services to the public.

“So far, out of the 160 medical professionals who have accepted to be part of this mission, almost all of them are here,” he said, adding that the team would, last Sunday, kick-start a four-day medical outreach programme for residents in Kumasi and its surrounding towns.

He said some of the medical teams would be at the Heroes Park at the Baba Yara Stadium on July 23, and on July 24, 2024, the team would be at Brofoyedru, near Kumasi.

“This is a testament to the spirit of unity and the boundless compassion that binds us together under the banner of the Global Crusade with Kumuyi.

“This outreach is more than a medical mission; it is an expression of our collective commitment to the well-being of our brothers and sisters. We are here to provide not just medical care, but to extend a hand of friendship, love and support to our community,” Pastor Duodu emphasised.

He said in that spirit of service, the team were reminded of the profound words of Mother Theresa, who once said: "Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”

“It is with this attitude that we conduct our work, knowing that every patient we attend to, every life we touch and every smile we bring to a face, no matter how small, is a significant step towards a healthier, happier community,” Pastor Duodu said.

Upcoming Crusade

The medical outreach, the man of God said, was just a prelude to the upcoming Kumasi version of the Global Crusade for Kumuyi (GCK-Ghana), slated for Saturday, July 27, 2024, to be held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

Hundreds of believers from all walks of life are expected to fill the 45,000-capacity stadium, as Kumasi is hosting it for the first time after the one held in Accra, which achieved its utmost purpose of winning more souls for the Kingdom of God.

He said part of the week-long event would include an impact academy targeted at students from secondary schools to tertiary education level, national service persons and young professionals.

According to Pastor Duodu, the Impact Academy would feature a plenary session on spiritual, academic and professional success. The academy would start from July 25-30, 2024, at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

Outreach schedules

Meanwhile, the outreach began last Sunday at the Prempeh Assembly Hall and was dedicated solely to maternal and child health. The team would attend to pregnant women from six months and above and children aged one day to six months.

From July 22-24, 2024, they would hold a general medical screening, including dental and eye care services, for the general public. The ministry would extend the same services to prison inmates at the Kumasi Central and Manhyia Prisons.

Attendance

In attendance at the inauguration were the Synod Moderator of the E.P. Church, Ghana, Rev. Christopher Mawunyo-Nyonyoh; the Regional Bishop of the Church of God, Ghana, Bishop William Agyei Harrison; and the Ashanti Regional Secretary of the Salvation Army, Captain Stephen Manu.

The rest were the General Overseer of the Heaven Prayer Network Ministry, Rev. Nana Yaw Amankwah Patrick; Bishop of the Calvary Life Chapel International, Dr Divine Adjei; and the Ashtown Area Head of the Apostolic Church-Ghana, Peter York Otu.
