Global Evangelical Church holds farewell service for Rev. Dr Hiagbe
The Global Evangelical Church (GEC) has held a retirement and farewell service for the Rector of Global Theological Seminary (GTS), Rev. Dr Kormi Ahiatroga Hiagbe, after 26 years of dedicated service to the church.
The service, held at the GEC El Shammah Temple at Tesano in Accra last Sunday, was to honour Rev Hiagbe’s significant contributions to the growth of the church and theological seminary as a pastor and educationist.

The ceremony was attended by leaders of the church, including the Moderator of GEC, Rt Rev. Prosper Samuel Dzomeku; GEC Synod Clerk, Rev. Dr Yohannes Ahiabu, a former Moderator of the church, reverend ministers, many of them his students and colleagues, as well as families and friends.
Great example
The Moderator of GEC, Rt Rev. Dzomeku, described Rev. Dr Hiagbe as a special leader who brought great gains, and humbly declined to receive praises for his exploits, especially in public.
He commended the retiree for his effort in ensuring that the church obtained accreditation for the operation of its seminary.
The Moderator also used the occasion to encourage the younger ministers to emulate the feat of Rev. Dr Hiagbe as a great example in the body of Christ.
The immediate past General Overseer of the Lord’s Pentecostal Church, Rev. Dr Richard Buafor, who preached the sermon, said to succeed in Christian and other endeavours, one must fix the eyes on the glory and the prize ahead.
Advice
Rev. Dr Hiagbe in his message, urged ministers in the GEC and the body of Christ to divorce themselves from materialism.

He said as much as he could, he tried that and it worked for him, hence his advise for the younger ministers to follow suit.
“I have tried in every sense of the word to be as modest as I can be, simple; and to divorce myself from materialism. If there is anything that I want to be remembered for as a pastor who has passed through the Global Evangelical Church these 26 years, it is that the kingdom of God is not a material gain, and I have lived it,” he stated.
“The favour of God on you does not lie in the kind of car you drive, the houses you have built, or your bank accounts. It lies in following Jesus Christ as best as you can in your private and public life, so that others can see Christ in you and follow Him,” Rev. Dr Hiagbe said.
