The Kascity District Society of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG), has donated items worth GH¢ 29,750 to the Royal Seed Home, an orphanage at Kwao Bondzie at Kasoa in the Central Region.
This is the third time that the orphanage is receiving such support from the society of professional accountants residing at Kasoa and its environs.
The items donated included 100 bags of sachet water, 10 bags of rice, packs of sanitary pads and toilet rolls, boxes of soap, loaves of bread, a set of kitchen knives, utensils, a toaster, clothing, tomato paste, and gallons of oil, among others.
More than 200 people are expected to benefit from the gesture.
The group, which was led by its chairman, Joshua Lomotey, handed over the items to Nana Ntow Amoah Klordey II, the Founder of the orphanage.
The group also handed over branded football jerseys and a football to the Royal Seed Home Football Academy to support the orphanage’s talent programme.
Members of the Kascity district had earlier engaged the beneficiaries in outdoor activities after having breakfast with them.
Mr Lomotey explained that the annual tradition reflects the society's commitment to supporting the less fortunate in the community.
He stressed the importance of looking beyond oneself to give back to those in need, adding, “Every year, we seek out organisations that require our support and we meet them to make a positive impact”,
Addressing the children at the orphanage, the chairman encouraged them not to define their future by their current circumstances.
“If you focus and take your lessons seriously, you can become whatever you wish to be,” he said.
Professional development
Sharing insights into the society's ongoing professional development initiatives, Mr Lomotey said measures were being put in place to ensure that members were at par with the advent of Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) in the profession to ensure that no member was left behind.
In line with that, he said the society’s monthly professional development session would be dedicated to A.I., aiming to build members’ capacity.
“As the Kascity District Society of ICAG continues to champion both community support and professional growth, our commitment to uplifting the less fortunate and adapting to the changing landscape of accounting remains a guiding principle.
For his part, the Secretary of the Kascity District Society, Michael Kwakye, called on other societies to undertake such gestures to support the less privileged in society.
