Koforidua, Effiduase residents express shock over Dr Omane Boamah’s death

Residents of Koforidua and Effiduase in the Eastern Region were thrown into a state of shock and confusion last Wednesday following the tragic death of the Defence Minister, Dr Edward Omane Boamah.

Dr Omane Boamah was among the eight persons who perished in the helicopter crash at the Adansi area in the Ashanti Region

At Effiduase, a suburb of Koforidua in the New Juaben North Municipality which has the family home of the late Defence Minister, the place was filled with people from all walks of life who had come to mourn with the family.

Among those who were in the home of the late minister were the National Democratic Congress regional and constituency executives led by the Eastern Regional First-Vice-Chairman of the party, Ransford Owusu-Boakye who is also the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for New Juaben South.

Friends

Some friends of the late minister were at his Effiduase Residence to also sympathise with his family.

Collins Agyapong, a resident of Effiduase, told the Daily Graphic that he received the death of Dr Omane Boamah with a big blow because he was a gentleman and a God-fearing person.

He said the late minister was good and caring to many people in Effiduase and its surrounding communities and that leaving the people now was not the best but God knows best.

Meanwhile, a high-powered delegation of government ministers and national party executives such as the Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, the Presidential Advisor and Special Aide to the President, Joyce Bawah Mogtari, the National Chairman of NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, led by the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah were also in the house to console the grief-stricken mother of the deceased, Liticia Omane Boamah, and other relatives.

Delegation

The delegation were there to officially inform the mother about the unfortunate incident and to narrate everything that happened leading to the death of her son.

The mother was later taken into the vehicle of the Minister of Health, Dr Mintah Akandoh, to Accra.

When the Daily Graphic visited the house of the late minister, family members were wailing upon hearing the news that their breadwinner was no more.

People from all walks of life thronged the premises of the late minister’s house, wearing black and red apparel to mourn with the family.

The late minister left behind a wife, Rita Omane Boamah, with three children, two girls and one boy.
