La Area Pentecost women go on float, medical outreach
The Women’s Ministry of the La Area Church of Pentecost embarked on a float and medical outreach to promote physical well-being and societal transformation through the gospel as part of activities to mark its National Women’s Week celebration.
Last Saturday’s float started at the Accra Technical Training Centre (ATTC) through some principal streets in Accra and back to the ATTC.
Members of the church from the 24 districts and 74 assemblies in the La Area, including men and children, participated in the walk.
It combined fitness activities with evangelism as participants distributed gospel tracts, shared the Christian message and engaged residents along principal streets within the La Area.
Medical professionals were also present to conduct blood pressure checks, and blood sugar and weight examinations to encourage healthy living among participants.
The participants later took part in aerobics and various sporting activities.
It formed part of a week-long celebration, which started on Tuesday, May 5, and climaxed with Mother’s Day activities across the various local assemblies yesterday.
The celebration had the theme: “Women Unleashed to Transform Society through the Gospel and the Power of the Holy Spirit”.
Church leaders said the programme sought to unite women across the area, strengthen their spiritual lives and empower them to influence their communities positively through evangelism and service.
Unity, empowerment
In an interview, the La Area Head of the Church of Pentecost, Dr Dieudonne Komla Muekpe, said the celebration had strengthened unity among women in the church and advanced the church’s evangelism agenda.
“This is a means to bring the women together that they might be united in purpose,” Dr Muekpe stated.
The Area Head said the women had dedicated the week to prayer and spiritual growth in addition to evangelism and physical exercise.
Dr Muekpe added that the church expected and supported women to play a leading role in transforming communities through the gospel.
Impact
For her part, the La Area Women’s Leader, Belinda Beatrice Asamoah Asare, said the Women’s Ministry organised the programme to combine evangelism, health awareness and community engagement.
She added that the outreach had created opportunities for participants to minister to residents and lead them to Christ.
She also expressed appreciation to the women who participated in the programme and extended Mother’s Day wishes to women within the church and across the country.
The Church of Pentecost is one of the biggest religious groups in the country, with a network of churches and worship centres woven across the national system.
