Lady Margaret Foundation holds health screening for Pokuase residents
The Lady Margaret Foundation (LMF) has held a health screening and wellness talk for some residents of Pokuase in Accra.
It was held at Mayera Adusa School Park in Pokuase last Saturday as part of LMF’s HealthHive programme on the theme: "Healthy Lives, Stronger Communities”.
The participants were examined for high blood pressure, eyes, fasting blood sugar and tooth; they also obtained free consultations from healthcare professionals.
The medical team also provided education on preventive health care, early detection, and key health issues, empowering participants to make informed decisions about their health and well-being.
The event, which aimed to create a vibrant and supportive community that prioritises health and wellness, attracted over 100 participants from the local community.
The LMF HealthHive Initiative focuses on providing accessible health services, education and resources to empower individuals and families to take control of their health.
The programme also aimed at improving healthcare access and empowering individuals to make informed decisions about their health.
Goal
In an interview with the Daily Graphic, the Founder of the LMF, Margaret Davids Opoku-Agyeman, said the health screening was part of efforts to empower individuals to take control of their health and well-being.
“Our goal is to provide accessible healthcare services and promote healthy living in our community. We believe that by providing free health screening and wellness talks, we can help individuals identify potential health issues early on and provide them with the knowledge and resources they need to maintain a healthy lifestyle,” she said.
Mrs Opoku-Agyeman expressed satisfaction with the turnout and overall success of the health screening.
“It’s clear that there is a great need for accessible healthcare services and health education in our community. We are committed to continuing our efforts to promote healthy living and provide support to those in need,” she stated.
SDGs
Mrs Opoku-Agyeman added that the HealthHive programme was implemented to support the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal 3, which focused on ensuring healthy lives and promoting the well-being of people of all ages.
She said the LMF remained dedicated to contributing to the achievement of that goal through its health-focused initiatives.
