Methodist choirs deserve special recognition in Christendom — Most Rev. Dr Boafo
The Immediate Past Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, Most Rev. Dr. Paul Kwabena Boafo, has underscored the need for Methodist Choirs and Choristers to be given special recognition for their indispensable role in Christian worship.
He said choristers play a frontline role in what he described as the “armour of praise” and must never be overlooked in the life of the Church and the wider Christian community.
“It is a well-known phenomenon that Methodism was born in songs and the Choir has remained a faithful, useful, reliable and major resource for effective gospel ministration in and out of Church,” Dr. Boafo said.
He further commended choristers for their unwavering devotion and commitment to the service of God and mankind through music. He noted that their tireless efforts continue to inspire, uplift, and deepen the spiritual lives of congregants across the country.
Biennial Conference
The clergyman was speaking at the climax of the 4th Biennial Conference of the Airport East Circuit of the Ghana Association of Methodist Church Choirs (GHAMSECC) at the Immanuel Methodist Society, Regimanuel Gray Estate, on Sunday.
The event also featured the induction of newly elected executive members of the Airport East GHAMSECC, with Barbara Arthur assuming the role of Chairperson.
Other inducted members included Nana Okese Essandoh, Immediate Past Chairman; Dr. Ewura Adjoa Nunoo, Vice Chairman; Samuel Nketsia, Director of Music; Roberta Wilhemina Osabutey, Junior Choir Coordinator; Ernest Morgan Acquah, Secretary; Emmanuel Essuman, Treasurer; and Doris Ashianor, Organizing Secretary.
The biennial conference brought together choristers from across the Circuit to celebrate their ministry and renew their collective commitment to spreading the gospel through music.
The Superintendent Minister of the Airport East Circuit, Very Rev. Helena Opoku-Sarkodie, urged the new executives to uphold the legacy of their predecessors and remain focused on soul-winning and growth in the Church’s music ministry.
Delivering the liturgy for the Thanksgiving Service, Rev. Fiifi Afenfi-Donkor, a Minister in the Circuit, offered a prayer for divine guidance for both government leadership and the Ghana National Association of Registered Nurses to reach a peaceful resolution to the ongoing nationwide strike.
