Mother of six remanded for inflicting wounds on her 11-year-old son

A mother of six has been remanded by an Accra circuit court for allegedly inflicting wounds on her 11-year-old son at Dome Pillar II a suburb of Accra.

The accused person Olivia Tetteh, mother to the victim was said to have used razor blade to inflict wounds on the left chest region, the back and the buttocks were she then mixed pepper with water and applied it on his wounds.

She pleaded guilty to the charge of causing harm to her son.

The court presided over by Mrs. Rita Abrokwa Doko adorned her sentence to June 20, 2019.

Prosecutor’s case  

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Kofi Atimbire said the complainant, Dennis Kusi Appiah happen to be the landlord to the accused person Olivia Tetteh at Dome Pillar II.

According to him on June 3, 2019 the victim, Afenyo Mawuli Collins went to take money from the mother’s lover by name Precious in her absence but did not meet him.

On June 5, 2019 Olivia got to know from Precious’s madam that her son had gone to the his house to demand money but met his absence, she got furious, went home, woke Mawuli up from sleep and question him for going to take money from Precious whom she a misunderstanding with.

She out of anger used razor blade to inflict wounds on the left chest region, the back and the buttocks were she then mixed pepper with water and applied it on his wounds.

The complainant rescued the victim due to an alarm raised by the senior sister of the victim and he was rushed to 37 Military Hospital for treatment where he was admitted and discharged on June 7, 2019.

A complaint was made to Tesano Domestic Violence & Victim Support Unit (Dovvsu) where she was arrested and charged with the offence accordingly.
