Oda MP donates uniforms to needy JHS pupils

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Akyem Oda, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, has donated school uniforms to 30 schoolchildren from deprived communities in the constituency.

The beneficiary schools include Oda Presbyterian Girls, Oda Frimpong Manso Roman Catholic, Oda Ridge Experimental and Oda Nkwanta Junior High Schools.

Making the presentation, Mr Acquah said when he went round two weeks ago to monitor the mock examination, he had funded for the final year JHS pupils, he realised that some of the pupils were in tattered school uniforms.

He said when he asked the pupils why they were in such uniforms, they replied that their parents were poor and could not purchase new uniforms for them.

Mr Acquah said he decided to provide them with new uniforms to boost their confidence to enable them to perform creditably in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

He said his initiative would promote inclusivity and enable more children to study hard to become responsible future leaders.

The MP said the gesture would go a long way to reduce the financial burden on the parents of the affected children.
