Prof. Amartey launches autobiography

A book chronicling the life journey of the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Professor Abednego Feehi Okoe Amartey, has been launched. 

Titled “Feehi: All’s well, living a life guided by grace and goodness”, the autobiography takes readers on an intimate journey of the man who has had three close brushes with death.

The chatty memoir, which was authored in collaboration with Dr Theodora Dame Adjin-Tettey, also touches on various themes such as hard work, prayer, resilience, poverty, values, customs and culture of the academic, who is also an ardent charismatic leader of the Revival Outreach Church.

It provides detailed episodes of his life growing up, circumstances of family and loved ones, fears and anxieties, introspection of his worldviews and philosophies, academic journey and a deep reflection of life’s eternal dilemma.

The literature piece offers a captivating narrative of empathy and the legacy of the second Vice-Chancellor of UPSA, who has been at the helm of affairs since 2016.

It also seeks to provide a pathway of resilience for the next generation and beyond. 

Launch

The autobiography was launched on the margins of the school’s maiden conference on the state and future of tertiary education in Ghana.

Present at yesterday’s launch were the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey; the Member of Parliament (MP) for Asawase in the Ashanti Region; Ghanaian Economist, Prof. Stephen Adei; a prominent biomedical engineer and host of the National Science and Maths Quiz, Prof. Elsie Effah Kaufmann; the Director of Public Prosecutions, Yvonne Attakora Obuobisa; a Senior Pastor of the International Central Gospel Church, Albert Ocran, among other dignitaries, department heads and staff of the school.

The Managing Director of FT Global, Dr Issah Mohammed, purchased the first copy of the book for GH¢50,000. 

Significance

In a foreword read at the launch, former Chief Justice, Justice Georgina Theodora Wood, described the memoir as a significant milestone marking the end of a distinguished career and serving as a tribute to those who influenced his life.

She added that she was moved by the inspiring stories in the memoir, which illustrated Prof. Amartey’s victories over adversity and poverty.

As you go through the book, be ready for a captivating journey of empathy and admiration for the author as you relate to his life stories of rising glories and settling doubts. No reader digesting Prof. Amartey’s book will be left untouched by the resounding life lessons conveyed by his experiences.

She further described the autobiography as a brilliant story of curiosity, industry, perseverance and deep reflection on life's eternal questions, adding that the prescriptive nature of the book offered valuable life lessons and insights for future generations.
