Stanbic Bank hosts Iftar to strengthen ties with Muslim community
Stanbic Bank Ghana has hosted members of the Muslim community, clients and partners at a special Iftar gathering in Accra, using the occasion to reaffirm its commitment to inclusion, ethical leadership and deeper engagement with faith-based communities.
Held on the theme “A time of deep reflection and connection,” the event brought together business leaders, members of the Islamic community and stakeholders from various sectors to observe the Ramadan tradition of breaking the fast while reflecting on shared values of discipline, generosity and service.
In a message shared on his behalf at the event, the Chief Executive of Stanbic Bank Ghana, Kwamina Asomaning, said Ramadan offered lessons that extended beyond religious practice and resonated strongly with leadership, service and community building.
He noted that those principles aligned closely with the bank’s commitment to ethical leadership and responsible service to its clients.
“This holy month encourages renewal. It asks us to pause, take stock and reconnect with our purpose.
For us as a bank, it is also an opportunity to renew our commitment to serving our clients with integrity, empathy and excellence, while strengthening the relationships that matter most,” he said.
Muslim community
Mr Asomaning used the occasion to acknowledge the long-standing contributions of Ghana’s Muslim community to national development, particularly in areas such as commerce, entrepreneurship and education.
“For generations, Muslims have played a vital role in trade, enterprise and community development across Ghana.
The Islamic community continues to make significant contributions to the country’s economy while upholding values of fairness, discipline and shared prosperity,” he said.
According to Mr Asomaning, the gathering was also an opportunity to celebrate diversity and strengthen connections across cultures and beliefs.
He further highlighted the importance of the upcoming introduction of Islamic banking in Ghana’s financial sector, describing it as a major step towards greater financial inclusion and expanded choice for customers.
“As Ghana prepares to welcome Islamic banking, we see this as an important milestone for our financial sector. It represents greater inclusion, respect for faith-based financial principles and new opportunities for customers.
We are preparing diligently to participate meaningfully in this space by developing appropriate products and partnerships that align with the values of our Muslim clients,” he added.
Partnership
The Executive Head of Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) at Stanbic Bank Ghana, Musah Abdallah, reflected on the broader economic context in which this year’s Ramadan is taking place, the signs of recovery within Ghana’s economy.
“This year’s Ramadan comes at a time when Ghana’s economy is also entering a season of renewal. Inflation has eased, stability is gradually returning and new opportunities are emerging across several sectors represented here tonight,” he observed.
He expressed the hope that the gathering would strengthen partnerships between the bank and its clients while fostering deeper connections within the business community.

The evening ended with guests sharing meals to break the fast to reinforce the spirit of unity, gratitude and reflection that define the season of Ramadan.
