Tang Hong re-elected Ghana Association of Chinese Societies president
The Chief Executive Officer of Caitec Group and Founder of Tang Palace Hotel, Tang Hong, has been re-elected President of the Ghana Association of Chinese Societies.
The re-election, the members said, was in recognition of his longstanding leadership and contribution to strengthening relations between Ghana and China through business, investment and community engagement.
Mr Tang, who has served in the role for several years, retained the presidency in what was described as a strong endorsement of his leadership and influence within Ghana’s Chinese community.
Other elected members of the executive included Lin Yehao, who is the CEO of the Ghana Overseas Chinese (Fujian) Industry and Commerce Federation, as the Executive Vice-President, while Gao Jian of Greenhouse and Zheng Shengli of the China-Ghana Traders’ Chamber of Commerce also assumed positions as Executive Vice-Presidents.
The rest are Wang Zhe of the Ghana Wenzhou Chamber of Commerce, Zhang Dongjun of the Ghana Shandong Federation of Industry and Commerce, Tang Wei of the Ghana Anhui General Chamber of Commerce, and Chen Jiehua of the Ghana Canton-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Chamber of Commerce.
The executive members were inaugurated in Accra last Saturday at a ceremony which also coincided with the inauguration of new executives from various Chinese business and community organisations in the country.
Among them were the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Sentuo Group, Xu Ningquan, who was elected Executive President of one of the associations, and Zhou Senlin as Honorary President.
Contribution
Speaking at the ceremony, the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, who represented the President, John Dramani Mahama, praised the Chinese community in Ghana for its significant contribution to the country’s economic growth, infrastructure development and industrial expansion over the years.
He said the relationship between Ghana and China had evolved beyond diplomacy and trade into a longstanding partnership rooted in friendship, mutual respect and shared development goals.
Mr Debrah added that Chinese businesses operating in the country had played key roles in sectors such as construction, manufacturing, mining, hospitality, logistics, agriculture and technology, creating employment opportunities and supporting national development.
He expressed appreciation for the continuous cooperation between the Chinese community and the government, particularly through investments, business partnerships and social interventions undertaken by Chinese associations and companies operating in the country.
The Chief of Staff said the government recognised the important role Chinese investors continued to play in Ghana’s economic transformation agenda and remained committed to maintaining an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
Continued Support
In his acceptance speech, Mr Tang expressed gratitude to members of the association for renewing their confidence in his leadership.
He pledged to continue strengthening unity among members of the Chinese community in Ghana, while promoting cooperation between Chinese investors and Ghanaian institutions.
He said, over the years, the association had played an active role in supporting humanitarian and charitable activities in both Ghana and China.
Mr Tang, who is one of the longest-staying Chinese business persons in the country, also assured the government and the people of Ghana that the Chinese community would continue to support initiatives aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation, industrial development and economic growth.
