Tongu queenmothers pledge support to regional minister

A Delegation from the Tongu Queenmothers’ Association has paid a courtesy call on the Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, to congratulate him on his appointment to the position.

The four-member delegation was led by the President of the association, Mamaga Sename III, who is Paramount Queen of Mafi.

She said Mr Gunu deserved the appointment as regional minister due to his commitment to the progress of the region, experience in national development matters and excellent human relations.

“We are confident that under your leadership, the Volta Region will witness remarkable growth,” Mama Sename said during the visit last Tuesday.

“As mothers and custodians of tradition, we look forward to working with you to promote social cohesion, women’s empowerment and sustainable development in our communities,” Mama Sename told the regional minister.

She described Mr Gunu as an icon of hope for the region, adding that the association trusted his tenure would have a lasting impact on the lives of the people.

“Be assured of our full support and prayers for a successful tenure,” Mama Sename further said.

Heart-warming

Mr Gunu expressed gratitude to the queens for the visit, which he described as heart-warming and inspiring.

He said the government of the National Democratic Congress revered traditional authorities and would continue to seek their wisdom and guidance in the affairs of the nation.

The other members of the delegation were the Paramount Queen of Mepe, Mamaga Adzo Sreku IV; Queen of Battor Gblevie and Secretary of the association, Mama Gblesi Nunyakpor II, and Queen of Sokpoe-Gbolomorfe and Financial Secretary of the association, Mama Akorsuba II.
