Victor Yaw Asante conferred with CIB honorary fellow

The Chartered Institute of Bankers, Ghana (CIB Ghana) has conferred an Honorary Fellow on the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO) of FirstBank Ghana, Victor Yaw Asante, and others.

The prestigious fellowship was conferred on him and others last weekend during the annual Governor's Day event held at the Main Auditorium of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA).

The esteemed recognition honours Mr Asante’s exceptional leadership and his significant contributions to the development of the banking and financial services sector in the country.

Over the years, he has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to promoting professionalism, ethics and talent development, making a profound impact on the industry.

In his role as MD/CEO, Mr Asante has been instrumental in steering FirstBank to new heights.

Under his leadership, the bank has achieved remarkable growth, expanding its services and enhancing customer experiences. His strategic vision has led to innovative banking solutions that address the diverse needs of customers, positioning FirstBank as a leader in the sector.

The Governing Council of CIB Ghana recognised Mr Asante’s tireless support for the institute’s mission to advance banking education and regulation.

His advocacy for continuous professional development has inspired many within the banking community, fostering a culture of excellence and integrity.

After the conferment, Mr Asante expressed gratitude for the honour, stating, “I am truly humbled to receive this recognition from the Chartered Institute of Bankers, Ghana.

This accolade is not just a personal achievement but a reflection of the collective efforts of my incredible team at FirstBank”.

He added that together, “we have worked diligently to create a banking experience that is innovative and deeply connected to our customers’ needs”.

Mr Asante again expressed commitment to supporting the CIB’s mission of promoting excellence in banking education and upholding the highest standards of professionalism within our industry.

The event, graced by industry leaders and stakeholders, also saw the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Ernest Addison, confer fellowships on three distinguished professionals and three honorary fellows, including Mr Asante.

Dr Addison lauded the contributions of the honourees, emphasising their role in enhancing the credibility and progress of Ghana’s banking sector.

“This recognition is a call to action to continue championing the highest standards of integrity, innovation and service in the financial industry,” the Governor stated.

The President of CIB Ghana, Benjamin Amenumey, also charged the newly chartered bankers and the newly inducted fellows to uphold the values of the profession.

“As fellows of this esteemed Institute, you are ambassadors of excellence and ethics in banking. Go out and make a difference by driving positive change and building trust in the financial sector,” he urged.

The event was attended by distinguished guests, industry leaders and members of the banking community who had all gathered to celebrate Mr Asante’s accomplishments and the continued progress of the banking sector in Ghana.

The Governing Council of CIB Ghana congratulated Mr Asante, saying it looked forward to his contributions to the institute and the industry.
