Volta ECG team pays working visits to institutions to strengthen partnerships

The Regional Management Team of the Electricity Company of Ghana in the Volta Region, led by the Regional General Manager, Christina Jatoe-Kaleo, has paid a working visit to some key institutions as part of efforts to strengthen the partnership existing between them.

The institutions are the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC), University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), and the Nursing Training College Ho.

The visits formed part of ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional relationships and foster collaboration.

Challenges

The institutions shared key operational challenges, including issues related to power supply stability, billing, and metering within the Volta Region.

PURC reiterated the need for ECG to adhere strictly to regulatory guidelines, particularly concerning outages and disconnections during nights and weekends, while reaffirming its commitment to continuous collaboration and support.

Management engagements with UHAS and the Nursing Training College were equally productive, with both institutions expressing appreciation for the initiative. Discussions highlighted challenges such as unstable power supply affecting medical laboratories and hostel facilities.

As part of efforts to deepen collaboration, the Regional General Manager, Ms Jatoe-Kaleo, proposed admission opportunities for ECG staff within the two institutions.

The proposal was well received, with both institutions encouraging qualified applicants to meet the required academic standards.

Role

Further, ECG and UHAS agreed to explore additional areas of partnership, including formalising a role for ECG as an energy/power consultant.

In response to identified challenges, ECG also committed to conducting an energy audit at the Asogli Hostel.

The team also used the opportunity to brief stakeholders on medium to long-term plans aimed at addressing voltage challenges across the region.

The engagements underscore ECG’s commitment to building strong partnerships and delivering improved service through collaboration.
