The group said the area remains one of the richest areas in the country, hosting major mining companies including Prestea Sankofa Mine, Golden Star Resources Limited in Bogoso, and Wassa Mine Akyempim but their roads are in deplorable conditions.

Addressing the media in Accra on Wednesday, the Chairman of the Concerned Citizens of Wassa Fiase (CCWF), Onyameba R. Atta-Kesson, said the community had been abandoned by successive governments over the years, despite its huge contribution to the wealth creation of the country.

"It is very unfortunate that Wassa Fiase particularly, the Tarkwa Nsuame Constituency, which is a World Bank of votes for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Government, has been neglected by the NPP," he added.

History

Giving a brief history of Wassa Fiase, Onyameba Atta-Kesson stated that Wassa Fiase is the Gold bearing State in pre and post-colonial history of the Gold Coast and Ghana and remains the richest traditional area of the country.

In addition, he said, the area has also been bedevilled with a protracted chieftaincy dispute, hence depriving the area of the needed development and creating confusion.

The group called has, therefore, called on all persons having any hand in the chieftaincy dispute in the area to desist from such practices in order to open up the place for development.
