The Executive Vice-President of Gold Fields and Head of West Africa, Mr Alfred Baku, expressed condolences on behalf of the company and himself to families of the deceased and pledged support for the treatment of those receiving medical care.

He said, “On this day, we stand with those in pain and mourn with those who are grieving. It is our hope that the supplies we have donated will help alleviate the suffering of our brothers and sisters and demonstrate to the staff of the hospital our willingness to lend a helping hand.”

Mr Baku commended the doctors, nurses and other hospital workers for their dedication and commitment and encouraged them to continue being a source of hope to every patient.

The Director of Medical Affairs of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Dr Samuel Asiamah, received the donation on behalf of the hospital.

Apart from the donation of medical supplies, Gold Fields Ghana has, through the Ghana Chamber of Mines, also contributed GH¢20,000 to victims of the June 3, 2015 flood and fire disaster.
