In view of this, the two companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which seeks to, among other things, embark on educational projects in some deprived communities in the country.

Additionally, the two organisations are to team up to organise essay competitions through MoneyGram’s Back to School Promotion for primary and junior high school  students.

The essay competition is on the topic: “Why is it important to buy made-in-Ghana goods?” and it is open to children from classes four to JHS Three.

The promotion would run from August 13 to September 30, 2014.

For the GCGL, the contract was signed by the Managing Director,  Mr Kenneth Ashigbey, while the West African Regional Manager of MoneyGram, Ms Kemi Okusanya, signed on behalf of her company.

Under the terms of agreement, MoneyGram would also purchase and distribute over 20,000 copies of the Junior Graphic to deprived public primary schools in the Eastern, Greater Accra and the Central regions.

In his speech prior to the signing of the MoU, Mr Ashigbey stressed the need  to assist the youth, saying the future  of evey country  was dependent  on its children and education  could not be ruled out  as far as their  development was concrned

On her part, the  Editor of the Junior Graphic, Mrs Mavis Kitcher, expressed her appreciation to the MoneyGram for partnering  the company for the project.

Recounting the relevance of the Junior Graphic, she said it had become a reference point for  many children and adults alike.
