GTP supports COVID-19 fund with 6,000 yards of clothes
Ghana Textile Printing (GTP) has presented 6,000 yards of bleached clothes to the National Covid-19 Trust Fund in Accra.
The gesture was made to support the call by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo towards the safety and protection of all Ghanaians from contracting coronavirus (COVID-19).
Presenting the material, Rev Stephen Badu, Marketing Director of GTP, said the company decided to support the fund with clothes so that the government could produce face masks for many Ghanaians.
"Although we could have given cash, the clothes are our way of showing concern and also saying thank you to all who have from the beginning fought against the pandemic since its emergence in the country", he stated.
He expressed the hope that the clothes could be used in producing PPE's for all frontline workers in the various health sectors to curb the spread of the virus and put the economy back on its feet.
He noted with enthusiasm the support some institutions and individuals have given to the fund already.
Rev. Badu also expressed the hope that a lot more organisations and individuals would come to support the fund either with cash or in kind.
Mrs Sophia Akuffo, Chairperson of the Fund commended GTP for the gesture and pledged that the materials would be dispatched quickly for onward production of face masks.
"Wear a nose mask at all time, at all places and observe all the mandatory social distance, washing your hands under running water and be safe", she stated
She however urged institutions who have not yet given to the fund to be motivated by others to support the fund.
