The late Kwame Sulley

Herbalist shot dead

The entire community of Apeadu Kokoben in the Kumasi metropolis was thrown into shock yesterday when a 37-year-old herbalist was shot dead by a palm wine tapper.

Kwame Sulley’s body was found in the bush with bullet wounds in his chest. The suspect, Akwasi Yeboah Frank, 45, confessed to the crime at the Domeabra Police Station 24 hours after leading a friend to seek assistance from Sulley.

According to Madam Sarah Menu, Sulley’s wife, Yeboah recently led a team of four young men to seek Sulley’s assistance to trace their missing cattle.

She said the number of men who came to her husband initially reduced to two on the next visit and Yeboah offered Sulley ammunition to kill the cattle in case he was overpowered.

Moments after offering the ammunition, the two visitors, including Yeboah, led Sulley into the bush for a preliminary search.

She said minutes later, two gunshots were heard, but the family members thought the shots had been targeted at the supposed lost animals.

However, when Sulley did not return, family members and other neighbours rushed to the bush, only to find that the herbalist had been shot.

Police

The story was corroborated by the District Police Commander for Domeabra, Superintendent of Police Mr Benjamin Kwadwo Gyasi, who said the suspect would be put before court today.

He said the motive behind the killing was yet to be ascertained, as the suspect appeared confused and unable to put his thoughts together.
