This adds up to the ultrasound scan and endoscopy services of the HTDC to ease the burden on patients and their relatives, doctors and the general public.

Before the coming of the new facility, only the Agogo Hospital operated endoscopy and x-ray services in the entire Asante Akyem area.

At the official opening of the X-ray unit at HTDC at Konongo, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of First Klass Group of Companies, Dr Steve Ogbordjor, said it was disheartening to see patients referred to Agogo Presbyterian Hospital for X-ray services.

He said the x-ray and endoscopy services would enable HTDC to better attend to the patients in the Konongo area and even beyond.

He said rendering health services in a better way was crucial to the development of society.

Accredited by the Health Facilities and Regulatory Agency (HFRA), the HTDC had, since its inception in 2006, rendered ultrasound scan services to over a million clients.

He added that HTDC, apart from the fact that it had generated employment for over 20 people, was situated on a strategic location and had helped to ease the burden on clients and medical practitioners.

He said it was the vision of the HTDC to be the preferred health facility, to provide rich and a wide range of services to better the lots of the people in the Asante Akyem area, and called for the support of the people.

Public support

A Local Government expert and former Presiding Member of Asante Akyem Central Municipal Assembly, Mr George Kyei Baffuor, who chaired the function, applauded HTDC for its services, particularly the X-ray.

He said he personally took inspiration from the works of Dr Ogbordjor – how he had immensely supported the people of Asante Akyem in diverse ways, particularly in the area of health since he began private medical practice.

He, however, said public-private partnership was important and called on health facilities in the public sector to partner HTDC for ultrasound scan, endoscopy and X-ray services.

Support

Nana Kwaku Brobbey, a representative of the Odumasehene, and Alhaji Osamanu Alhassan, the Imam for Konongo, both commended authorities at HTDC for their foresight.

They pledged their support for HTDC at all times and asked HTDC to continue to broaden its frontiers to meet the health needs of the people in the area.
