The personnel went through some theories on and the causes of fire and how to prevent or minimise its impact should they occur, and also underwent a simulation exercise to test their firefighting preparedness.

The Municipal Fire Officer (MFO), DOIII Theophilus Dangbe, told the Daily Graphic that the municipal fire department had created a contingency plan which seeks to prevent and reduce fire outbreaks to the barest minimum.

The plan, he said, would also determine the access and exit points of the company, risk level as well as the fire station's response time to the venue in case of a fire outbreak.

According to the MFO, a recent safety audit conducted at the facility showed that the company had put prevention methods and materials in place but said there was more room for improvement, considering the fact that the facility housed a lot of combustible materials.

He, however, commended management for the prevention methods they had put in place.

The Health, Safety and Environmental Manager of Kasapreko, Nana Adjeiwaa Boakye, briefed the staff after the exercise and commended the fire department for the level of professionalism they exhibited during the exercise.

She said the company would work at bridging the lapses that were identified during the exercise.
