Kofi Baah Agyepong: Youth Employment Agency CEO joins string of resignations

The Chief Executive Officer of Ghana's Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Kofi Baah Agyepong, has announced his resignation, effective January 24, 2025.

He cited personal commitments and aspirations as his reasons for leaving the post he has held for the last two years.

In a letter to President John Dramani Mahama, Agyepong described his time at the helm of YEA as both an honour and a privilege. He expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to lead the agency, which has been central to efforts in reducing youth unemployment in Ghana.

Agyepong highlighted his focus during his tenure on initiatives aimed at enhancing vocational and entrepreneurial skills among the youth, which he believed would pave the way for sustainable employment opportunities.

He assured President Mahama of his support during the transition period, promising to be available for any urgent matters that might arise. Agyepong also conveyed his best wishes to the President for continued leadership and success in national service.

His exit continues a string of recent resignations by the leadership of some state-owned agencies and companies in the aftermath of the December 7 Presidential election. Some personalities who have resigned include the Ghana Tourism Authority boss, Akwasi Agyemang; Sammi Awuku resigned as CEO of the National Lottery Authority; and Julie Essiam also resigned as Commissioner General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).
