Koforidua: Fire destroys property in six-bedroom house at Atekyem
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service on Thursday responded to a fire outbreak at Atekyem near Universal School in Koforidua after receiving a distress call at 11:14 am and managed to extinguish the fire at 12:57pm.
The crew, led by ADO I Sagoe, arrived at the scene at 11:26 am and found a six-bedroom self-contained house engulfed in flames from the roof section. Firefighters brought the fire under control at 12:21 pm and completely extinguished it at 12:57 pm.
Items salvaged
Although the building and most of its contents were destroyed, several household items were salvaged, including a tabletop fridge, kitchen utensils, a 6kg gas cylinder, plastic racks, and wash basins.
No injuries or fatalities were recorded. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The GNFS is urging the public to remain vigilant and report fire emergencies promptly.
