The MCE also announced that as of December 31, 2015, the assembly had received all four quarterly releases of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) which amounted to GH¢1,204,883.17.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the assembly, Mr Jacob Frederick Kwame Acolatse, commended the people for their cooperation and willingness to honour their tax obligations and urged them to continue to support the assembly to ensure the accelerated development of the area.

He was addressing the first ordinary meeting of the third session of the assembly at Odumase-Krobo.

Vaccination

The MCE said a committee set up by the assembly to look into the effects of dog bites in the municipality recommended that the assembly members educate their respective community members on the need to vaccinate their dogs and cats against rabies.

He said the committee further recommended that both the Veterinary and Environmental Health and Sanitation units of the assembly should put in measures to ensure that all dogs and cats were effectively vaccinated and that the assembly should provide funds for the exercise.

Information van

According to Mr Acolatse, due to the breakdown of the municipal information van, the Information Services Department in the municipality had not been very effective in carrying out public education and given feedback on government policies and programmes. He said a committee established by the assembly had, therefore, recommended the purchase of an engine for the van for the effective delivery of the department’s core mandate of giving pieces of information on development to the public.

At the end of the session, the assembly members also recommended the strengthening of security at the Agomanya market, the main source of revenue for the assembly, to control activities of criminals and drug peddlers. They further called for the paving of the market  to make it more convenient for both traders and customers.
