Though a good number of Ghanaians are aware of tourist attractions in this country, many have really not been motivated to actually visit them.

Others still complain that they do not have a systematic flow of current information about tourism sites here.

This is why the publishing of the current edition of ‘’Ghana-the official Guide’’ should be received with a big akwaaba.

The latest edition, which has been launched in Accra,  aims to guide visitors to explore the best of Ghana.

The publication is in line with the Ministry of Tourism’s objective to increase domestic tourism and it focuses on tourism sites, activities, history, culture and traditions.

‘’This new edition is our biggest so far, providing Ghanaians and visitors with even more detailed information on travelling to the country,” said Yaw Diabah, Directing Editor of Ghana Tourist Guide.

“Very few travel guides on Ghana offer as much information on our culture or represents us in a positive manner internationally.’’

The 448-page, glossy book has facts and colourful pictures covering a wide range of attractions from all parts of Ghana. It is also illustrated with  maps and presents the best of what Ghana has to offer in terms of attractions, festivals, wildlife and nature, culture and heritage.

Compared to previous editions, it features more detailed maps for each region providing Ghanaians and visitors with clearer routes when travelling to the different regions.

There is also  detailed information on each region with a larger section on the Greater Accra Region, providing more on attractions and entertainment with new chapters on activities for children and young people and a new section on health and wellness .

Highlighted are new and upcoming places of interest, restaurants, hotels and in particular within the Greater Accra Region, the inclusion of new style boutique hotels.

This new edition is the seventh published by the Amazing Africa team based in Accra with support from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Industries under a private initiative.

In addition to the guide launch, Amazing Africa will be organising a series of promotional events locally with the publication to encourage people to visit and experience the wide array of tourism activities available in Ghana.

Since its inception in 2007, the Guide has been very well received by Ghanaians, tourists, visiting delegations as well as those wishing to invest in Ghana.

The Guide and reference book is an essential travel companion for those who wishing to know and travel around the country.

The Official Ghana Tourist Guide is retailed in Ghana and sold and promoted internationally at tourism fairs and shows.

The new edition is now being sold on the Amazing Africa website (www.amazingafrica.org) and on the global retail website Amazon.co.uk.

In Ghana, the Guide is sold in tourist centres, hotels and many retail outlets.
