Prof. Manu said there was no short-cut to success and urged the students to focus on their studies to justify the investment made in them, since that was the only legacy they could bequeath to the generation after them.

The rector made the call at the 12th matriculation of the institute for the 2014/2015 academic year in Accra.

The students were matriculated to pursue degree programmes in Law, Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Human Resource Management, Entrepreneurship, Marketing and Hospitality and Tourism Management.

The rest of the programmes are Operations and Supply Chain Management, Procurement Management, Project Management, Economics, Information and Communications Technology and Computer Science.

He cautioned the students against any acts of examination malpractices, stressing that the institute had worked assiduously to maintain its reputation on the highest pedestal and that it behoves the students to uphold the school’s virtues and tenets.

Use of dialogue

Prof. Manu urged the students to always use dialogue to solve their differences and not to resort to violent acts since that affected national cohesion and unity among students and management of the institution.

He assured the students of the readiness and commitment from the faculties and staff to work diligently in responding to their needs.

The rector urged the students to prepare themselves for a more challenging curriculum since the institute was determined to offer courses that would respond to the needs of industry players in the country.

The Deputy Rector of GIMPA, Prof. Philip Doku Osei, said the institute was noted for excellence and diligence in the  pursuit of academic endeavours, and called on the students to continue to uphold the excellence that GIMPA had been pursuing over the years.

Mr Ibrahim Sissey, a newly admitted student, on behalf of the students, pledged their unflinching support to the school and promised to learn hard to uphold the virtues of the school.

He urged management of the school to design a proactive curriculum to sharpen their entrepreneurial skills.
