He also appealed to politicians who have been exploiting the religion for political expediency and had been funding the terrorist groups to stop it because they were a disgrace to Islam and humanity.

Sarikyi Nomabo, known in private life as Alhaji Ahmed Ben Mahmood, an Assistant Pharmacy Technician at Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital, condemned the activities of terrorist groups within the Islam.

He said Islam meant peace and so nobody should make the religion to be seen as a violent one.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Saltpond recently, the Sarikyi said groups like Al Qaeda, Boko Haram, Al Shabab and Taliban, which operated in the name of the religion must be made to stop “since they are all a disgrace to Islam.”

He said their terrorist activities on innocent people had been a source of worry to genuine members of the religion.

He appealed to Ghanaians to sacrifice for the development of the country by paying their taxes without complaining.

Sarikyi Nomabo also called on Muslims to extend a helping hand to the needy and the poor, especially on occasions like the Eid-ul-Adha.

He commended Mr Aquinas Tawiah Quansah, Member of Parliament for Mfantseman, and Mr Henry Kweku Hayfron, Municipal Chief Executive, for the good work they had been doing for the municipality, particularly for Muslims and the Zongo communities.

“Their actions have brought the ‘Better Ghana Agenda’ closer to the people,” he said.
