‘Mallam Junction land belongs to Gbawe Kwatei Family’

The Gbawe Kwatei Family has refuted claims that the land which the American company, BG International, has acquired to construct a shopping centre at Mallam Junction belongs to the James Town Ngleshie Paramount Stool.

It said the Mallam Junction land belonged to the Gbawe Kwatei Family and, therefore, cautioned the James Town Ngleshie Stool to desist from misleading the public.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary to the Gbawe Kwatei Family, Solomon Nii Afutu Quartey, in reaction to the March 20, 2014 publication on page 26 of the Daily Graphic in which the James Town Ngleshie Alata Paramount Stool advised BG International to deal with the rightful landowners and not the Gbawe Kwatei Family.

In that publication, Nii Shippi Kwashie Kojo I indicated that the stool would use every legal means to stop BG International from going ahead with the development.

However, in its rebuttal, the Gbawe Katei Family stated, “BG International has dealt with the rightful owners of the land, the Gbawe Kwatei Family, they have acquired for the shopping centre project.”

It stated that the Gbawe Kwatei Family had never claimed ownership of Kokrobite, Langma, Weija, Joma, Aplaku and Tetegu as the publication of March 20, 2014 claimed.

It said the land, including that which BG International had acquired at Mallam Junction for the construction of the shopping centre, belonged to Gbawe Kwatei family.

The statement said the ownership of all those lands had been confirmed in the law courts through a number of  land cases.

“The James Town Ngleshie Stool was part of almost all these cases of which judgments were given in favour of the Gbawe Kwatei Family,” it stated.

The statement stated that the jurisdiction of the Gbawe Kwatei Family land included the Gbawe township, Gbawe Anyaa, Awoshie, Odorkor Boijor, Gbawe Kpeehe (FirstLight - Flamingo), Gbawe Gonkpataa, Gbawe Gon (Mccarthy  Hill), Gbawe Otodjor, Gbawe Oblogo Tempon, Gbawe Sakumonaa (Mallam), Gbawe Kpabobo Gon and Gbawe koo enyonaa.
