Man, 43, arrested for possessing guns
A large quantity of guns and ammunition have been retrieved from the residence of Charles Donkor, a 43-year-old man, at Amamole, near Pokuase, in the Greater Accra Region.
The police, after a three-hour operation, retrieved one AK 47 assault rifle, an SMG rifle, two AK 47 magazines, 48 G3 empty shells, 188 rounds of G3 ammunitions and 77 rounds of AK 47 ammunition.
Other items retrieved included 13 machetes, 72 rounds of pistol ammunition, three face masks, two hammers and two screw drivers.

Briefing journalists in Accra, the Accra Regional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mr Timothy Yoosa Bonga, said Charles Donkor (alias Killer) was a hardened robber who is believed to be a dealer in illegal weapons and had also been operating as a land guard.

He said acting on an intelligence gathered, the police organised the swoop on November 2, 2016 after hunting for Donkor for sometime.
According to Mr Bonga, the records of the police indicate that Donkor was arrested on October 13, 2013 for illegal possession of ammunition and arms including a revolver pistol, a pump action gun and 29 rounds of live bullets.
Following the arrest, Donkor was tried at the law court and sentenced to a fine for possessing arms and ammunition without authority.
