The road, which is a two kilometre (km) stretch from the Amasaman road through to the Pokuase town, is estimated at GH¢450,000.

The construction of the road was aimed at reducing the traffic on the main road and making it easy for vehicles to access the town.

Pokuase township

Speaking at a news briefing in Accra, Mr Quaye said after he assumed office as the MCE two years ago, he realised the roads in the Pokuase town were in deplorable states.

“The assembly decided to earmark the road for construction from the ACP to Agric Junctions,” he said.
He commended the contractor,Eugene Amoah of Asmona Limited and his team for the progress of work and urged them to speed it up, adding that he was happy with the first phase of the road which was 80 per cent complete.

In spite of the fact that there had been some progress on the roads, Mr Quaye expressed  concern about the inconvenience motorists were going through.
He, therefore, entreated the contractors to speed up work to be able to complete the projects on schedule.
Mr Quaye disclosed that the assembly was putting measures in place to remove some of the wooden structures and kiosks along the road, explaining that they were  too close to the road.

That, he said, had left the pedestrians with no option than to walk on the road.
“As an assembly, we need to take measures to ensure that the town is devoid of all illegal wooden structures,” he added.
Mr Quaye gave an assurance that the road would be completed by the end of the year.

Complete project

Mr Amoah, who said they were working around the clock to complete the project on time, asked for the cooperation of the residents.
He said the road had bituminous surfacing and urged residents not to pour water onto it, explaining that that could shorten its  lifespan.
