Mechanical Lloyd MD, ex ECG boss cited for contempt of court

The Managing Director of Mechanical Lloyd Company limited Terry Darko and the former Western regional Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Kofi Afewu have been cited for contempt by a High court in Sekondi in the Western region. The two are reported to have gone ahead to authorise work on a disputed parcel of land in front of Mantrac-Halliburton near the Takoradi flour mills, despite a court injunction on the land.The ECG is accused of burying underground cables on Plot 7 of the casuarina belt at Takoradi against the ruling of the court.
The court has therefore directed the ECG to “purge” itself by removing the underground cables, while Mechanical Lloyd is expected to halt, with immediate effect, the construction of its ultramodern structure on the land before the court sits again on April 22, 2015.
